GENERATOR SELECTION MADE EASY

  1. List down the wattages of all the appliances you need to run together. If an appliance is rated in Amps only, multiply AMPS x VOLTS = WATTS
  2. Add up the total of WATTS of all these appliances.
    See example below:
  3. From the Gentech brochure select a generator that can deliver both the running and starting watts with ease.
UNITRUNNING WATTSSTARTING WATTS
Fridge 300750
TV 120 120
Lights 75 75
Freezer 200 500
1 hp Pump 750 4500
TOTAL 1445 5945

IMPORTANT: All Gentech portable petrol sets can provide twice their normal output for a short period. Therefore in the above example, a 4.4kVA Gentech generator can deliver 3500 watts running and 7000 watts starting.

CONVERSION FACTORS

kW/kVA @ 8pf kVA x 0.8 = kW 2000 Watts = 2.5kVA

Note: Electric motors need 3x motor hp to start than to run, add this to your required kW.
